CABINET MODELS AND STYLING DETAILS
There are three 'cabinet models' and three sets of 'styling details'
The three cabinet models are:
1. SHEER (handle-less)
2. SCOOP (scoop-out behind handle)
3. SKATE (inset flush handle)
The three 'styling details' are:
1. natural (classic modern)
2. minimal (cubic minimalism)
3. deco (vintage)
Pick the cabinet model, then add a 'styling detail' For example, the handle-less SHEER cabinet model, with ‘natural’ styling becomes ‘naturalSHEER’ - which happens to be the archetypal Tomas kitchen!
Here are just a few 'natural' styling details:
FINGERTIP EDGE PROFILE
12+3mm radii are introduced on base, tall and wall end panels. In section this detail resembles a fingertip!
When the base elements meet tall elements, the talls are drawn forward to create a stopping point for the overhanging countertop. The plinth stays in line and the corner of the end panel is softened with the Fingertip Edge Profile. The change in height and depth also provides an opportunity to introduce a second colour.
SOFT SQUARE CORNER
Not all Tomas kitchens are curved. In some layouts, our soft square corner is a better solution. The soft square corner is formed as the countertop follows the 12mm radius of the fingertip edge profile.
SWEPT-LINE END PANEL
Here the end panel is swept back between the plinth-line and the floor. This facilitates sweeping and mopping, whilst providing yet another distinctive design feature.
Curved kitchens are something of a specialty and we produce an extensive range of curved cabinets with different radii to perfectly suit the available space. The beautiful curves are practical too. They often create the opportunity to increase countertop and storage, whilst facilitating movement in the kitchen.
SHEER COUNTERTOP EDGE PROFILE
All our SHEER kitchens have the SHEER countertop edge profile. Here the top is chamfered back to optimise access to the angled top of the SHEER door or drawer.
GIANT'S FINGERTIP COUNTERTOP EDGE PROFILE
SCOOP kitchens usually feature the 'Giant’s Fingertip' edge profile, whilst SKATE usually have a square edge countertop with a 3mm radius to take off the point.
Stainless steel hanging rails by FROST DK can be added and mixed with accessories such as the Tomas Midbox (below).
IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS
It’s details like these that combine and define the Tomas look - as we like to say: it’s the little things that make the big things great.
BEAUTY IS MORE THAN JUST SKIN DEEP
The beauty of a Tomas kitchen is more than just skin deep. Behind the gorgeous earthy colours of the 22mm doors and drawer fronts, discover solid oak dove-tailed drawer boxes and birch ply carcasses. The solid oak, with its traditional English dove-tail joints, brings strength, longevity and beauty. A wide range of oak drawer inserts is also available.
The plywood edge is exposed to side step the need for edging the carcases, whilst creating another distinctive design feature.
The areas that always seem to deteriorate first on a typical kitchen have been ‘designed out’. No peeling edges, no hinges dropping out of chipboard carcasses and no drawer boxes falling apart!
