It was way back in 2013 when Tomas Kitchen Living moved across town from Cherry Hinton Road to a much larger premises off Newmarket Road. The main reason for moving was to enable in-house production of the beautiful kitchens and furniture product that Tomas Kitchen Living have become renowned for.
A new showroom was created under the same roof as the workshops, which enabled showrooms to be opened in St Albans and North London. It was a great set up which remains in place to this day. The only flaw in the plan was the size of the Cambridge showroom was just a little bit on the small side – but now that has been rectified!
A brand-new room has been created and fitted out, as if it were a real kitchen living space in a real home. All the ingredients are there including a full-sized Tomas Kitchen, Dining Table, Lounge Furniture, Lights, Flooring, Curtains and even sliding doors and a roof lantern courtesy of ID Systems. The overall effect is superb and for anyone who recalls the original reception area, the space is completely unrecognisable (in a good way)!!!
Visitors to the new space will discover…
A full sized naturalSHEER kitchen with a D-Shaped Island in Knighton Blue and Haven Cool Grey with oak trims and features. The countertop is Montblanc by ‘CAESARSTONE’ – and flush mounted into this gorgeous surface, there is an operational BORA vented induction hob. There is also an undermounted Abode sink and a working Quooker boiling tap. The ovens are by Fisher and Paykel and there is a superb integrated larder fridge by Liebherr. Above the sink, you’ll see a Tomas Arcadia Shelf, which conceals lighting and ties in well with the other oak features such as the box shelves, trims and the iconic Erik Buck Stools (which are available from Tomas). Hanging over the island are a magnificent set of three Radiohus pendant lights by Villhelm Lauritz for Louis Poulsen.
The kitchen area gives way to the dining area where there are more Arcadia Shelves, a built-in bench (banquette), Tomas Turner Table and Elbow Chairs by Hans J Wegner for Carl Hansen & Son. To complement the island pendant lights, a VL Crown pendant light is positioned above the Turner Table.
At the end of the room, there is a frameless roof lantern and magnificent sliding door display by ID Systems – and even an example of Danish brand Kvadrat’s ready-made curtain system.
The lounge part of a true Living Kitchen is represented with a jaw droppingly stylish CH445 Wing Chair – also by Hans J Wegner for Carl Hansen & Son, Tomas Strum Tables and a Louis Poulsen Floor Lamp.
An engineered wood floor by Kahrs sets off the whole thing and a hand picked selection of porcelain floor tiles can also be viewed alongside countless samples and swatches.
The rest of the original showroom is unchanged, but also fantastic… a full sized naturalSHEER kitchen with Corian tops and full curves fills the first room, where there are also flooring and lighting displays. Deeper into the space other styles of the handleless SHEER kitchen model can be found.
In the next room there is a gorgeous decoSHEER kitchen, in Deco Mid Blue with Walnut trims and Stataturio Maximus countertops by Caesarstone.
Here you can also see a sheerCASE and more free-standing furniture. In the end room, you’ll find examples of the minimalSHEER styling details.
